Seven Great Rock Music Record Albums And Everything I Can Think Of To Say About Them In The Time It Takes To Listen To Them

PS 122, NYC
2007

In the headphones: seven great rock albums. In the gallery: the listener’s voice. The lecture-as-performance asks: What else do we listen to when we listen to music? Over the course of six hours, an answer is proposed: history, race, other music, politics, childhood, gender, regrets, economics, freedom, aesthetics, death. The audience is invited to bring their iPods and listen along to the music while listening to the listener.
