Seth Kim-Cohen [The Lévi Breaks]
February 2006
Claude Lévi-Strauss, meet John Bonham.
An anthropomorphism of sorts. Claude Lévi-Strauss' The Savage Mind (Pensée Sauvage) set to the kick drum pattern of Led Zeppelin's "When The Levee Breaks." As Lévi-Strauss dicusses "our" view of "primitive" peoples, John Bonham's thunderous right foot asserts its own theory of "the primitive." Installation: loudspeaker concealed within a kick drum at John Lely's Rational Fete, 7 February 2006 at the Bethnal Green Working Men's Club, London, UK.
