Seth Kim-Cohen [Before Your Door (is all the way open)]
November 2005 - Whitechapel Gallery, London, UK
May 2007 - Aloud/Allowed Festival, New Haven, CT
October 2009 - Issue Project Room, Brooklyn, NY

From the back of the room, Whisperer 1 whispers an instruction in the ear of a member of the audience, asking them to pass it along to the organist on stage. The instruction moves through the audience, mutating. An audience member may simply mis-hear an instruction and pass it on incorrectly, or perhaps it has been deliberately modified, or invented on the spot. Certain instructions are deliberately difficult to repeat. Sometimes Whisperer 1 starts one instruction on one side of the room, while Whisperer 2 starts a contradictory instruction from the other side. The 2 instructions race toward the organist, the organist's actions differ depending on which one gets there first.
