Seth Kim-Cohen [Tinker to Ever to Chance to [Tinker to Ever] to [Tinker to Chance] (Jarrod Fowler As Rhythm)]
November 2008

A four minute and thirty-three second recording of Jarrod Fowler speaking about his work  is looped (Tinker) to forty-five minutes and twenty-four seconds – the duration of the Lovely Records recording of Alvin Lucier’s I Am Sitting In A Room (Ever) – then muted and unmuted by a gate controlled by the amplitude of I Am Sitting In A Room (Chance), then time-compressed to four minutes and thirty-three seconds and looped to create a second forty-five minute and twenty-four second recording (Tinker to Ever), then the two recordings are played simultaneously (Tinker to Chance).

(Made for Jarrod Fowler's release party for his Percussion As Percussion CD, 21 November at Pierre Menard Gallery in Boston.)
